Birds at Low Tide

Bird Watching at Laguna San Ignacio

From our Cabins

As i sit in my cabin this afternoon writing this post with the door open and a magnificent view of the lagoon as the tide rolls out and a gathering of thousands of what i believe are Snowy Plovers feeding in the tidal flats. These birds are gathered every low tide in front of the camp and cabins and can be heard squawking away in a high pitched vocalization. I never get tired of watching them as they walk through the mud flats eating what appear to be worms and at any given moment they will all jump up and fly in unison displaying a visual dance…much like watching sardines balling up together and moving as one giant organism.
